Help please

I have a transit 2 litre dohc 1998 s reg with a Tartarini tec 97 system. The problem that has happened now is that it has completely smashed up the air filter box and all the air intake system up to the inlet. It has been backfiring. I have taken it to an lpg place and they say their system cannot read the box, although it should be able to. I have ordered a new air intake system but I am bothered about it happening again. I dont know whether it was blow back pressure that did it or something else but it looked to me as though it might have burnt somewhere. It only seems to backfire when it is getting low on gas and normally when you are going slower and then put your foot down for more power and then it backfires. Is it possible to just replace the faulty unit so it can be read and adjusted? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks very much.
