tank ground clearance

Hi I am in the process of transfering my lpg setup from my old Espace mk1 to a newer series 3 model. I think I will have to replace the toroidal tank because the identification stamp has corroded and much of it is now unreadable including the date stamp. Can just make out the pressure test and capacity.
I am wondering if it is still seen to be OK with cop11 regulations to have a tank that has lower than 250mm ground clearance if a protection bar runs underneath the tank. iecop11 reg. "The effective road clearance of the vehicle at the fuel tank position when loaded to its gross vehicle weight rating, provided that under unfavourable road conditions, a fixed part of the vehicle comes into contact with the road surface before that of the fuel tank, its fittings and adjacent pipes."
I think with the present tank the ground clearance is only about 170mm though it has never given me any problems in the past. Just wondering if I get a new tank wether I should consider either a narrower toroidal say 200mm depth instead of the current 250 mm or perhaps an inside mounted tank.I am loath to fit the tank inside because it would spoil the versatility of the flat uncluttered floor of the espace. Anyone have experience of fitting an underslung tank on an espace series 3 (94) and what size tank and groung clearance did they get. Thanks Rob
