Idle settings on OMVL regulator

I have a carburreted GM 6 cylinder with an LPG conversion.
The car starts and runs fine on petrol.
It will not start on gas. It will not run on gas until it is warmed up. When cold, and I change over from petrol it fells like there is no gas (the engine quits, then it gets a spurt of gasfor about a 1/2 sec then quits then another spurt. Almost like no gas flow through the main gas path and the only gas coming through the start circuit.
If I try to start on gas I get a momentary fire and then it quits. Does that repeatedly. If it does eventually start the idel is lumpy and low. If I try to feed in accelerator it dies. Leave it "idling" for a bit and suddenly it'll pick up revs and idle will smooth out
Any suggestions? I've tried minor adjustment of the two screws on the side of the OMVL regulator. Don't know what they do, and they seem to have little effect
